Community Services
Many migrant workers lack access to culturally appropriate information and resources that can help them to take charge of their own health. In line with the nation’s preventive health strategy, HealthServe is committed to empowering migrant workers to take charge of their holistic well-being over the long term.
As an advocate of Asset-Based Community Development, HealthServe is dedicated to growing our Peer Support Leader (PSL) network. As crucial first responders, PSLs enable preventative and early intervention efforts within the migrant worker community. Through regular workshops conducted in our migrant friends’ native languages, we equip PSLs with skills to identify signs of distress among their peers, actively listen and offer comfort, and connect individuals with appropriate resources.
Every month, HealthServe also holds large-scale health carnivals in migrant worker dormitories or Recreation Centres, reaching hundreds of migrant workers. At these health carnivals, our team of passionate staff and volunteers lead interactive basic health screenings and education spanning the physical, dental and mental, providing safe spaces for healthy dialogue and knowledge exchange.
We aim to build a community where migrant workers feel accepted and supported. To do so, HealthServe works closely with ecosystem stakeholders – including government agencies, hospitals, industry associations, dormitory operators and employers – to support and strengthen migrant workers’ overall well-being. This holistic community health approach strengthens migrant workers’ wider support network, promoting resilience across levels of the community.

Hear From Our Community
If we visit [private] clinics, the consultation fee is high and there’s a language barrier, they can’t understand me. That’s why I came here. For those people from my hometown with fevers or headaches, I will recommend them to come here.
HealthServe has made me feel more secure about being in a foreign country and reminded me not to be afraid or lonely in case I need medical or emotional support.
I thinking, I no makan but no die, maybe HealthServe come from God to help me.
HealthServe saved my life.
What I’m most grateful to HealthServe for is... showing me a direction to work towards, whenever there is something I don’t understand. And when we don’t receive our rightful compensation, HealthServe mediates for us with the government and our employers.
HealthServe has been really helpful to me, especially with my medical expenses and issues
Everyone here is really friendly and nice, and is always willing to offer a listening ear
