Introduces Inaugural Futsal Friendship Cup For 128 Migrant Workers and Singaporeans To Play Together As One
SINGAPORE — 17 May 2026 — HealthServe, a local charity dedicated to the well-being of Singapore’s migrant worker community, is marking its 20th anniversary this year. Over the years, the organisation has evolved in response to the changing needs of the migrant worker community, growing from a single clinic offering GP services, to providing casework and social assistance, specialist medical, dental and mental health services, as well as preventive health outreach and education.
The largest changes have happened in the last five years. HealthServe substantially scaled dental and mental health services. Empowerment has also been a key focus. Since the introduction of Peer Support Leaders (PSL) training in 2021, more than 2,200 PSLs have been trained. This year, HealthServe and Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC) have selected a group of trained PSLs for a “train-the-trainer” programme, with the aim of preparing them to become future PSL trainers, in addition to HealthServe staff trainers, and further strengthen the support network for migrant workers in Singapore.

**In 2021, while working around the physical constraints of COVID-19 Safe Management Measures, HealthServe held both online and in-person (offline) awareness building and education programmes that equipped participants with practical tips to care for themselves and others. With the easing of SMMs from 2022, we reverted fully to in-person sessions for better engagement.
Bridging communities through meaningful engagement remains a core mission of the organisation. This year, to mark its second decade, HealthServe is rolling out key activities to celebrate friendships and connections between the local community and migrant brothers and sisters.
Dr Benjamin Kuan, HealthServe CEO, shared: “As we look back on the last 20 years, we are filled with gratitude for the trust our migrant brothers and sisters have placed in us. Our migrant brothers and sisters have left their homes to contribute to ours. Our mission is not just to provide care, but to meaningfully embed the migrant worker community within the local community for a more inclusive and compassionate Singapore.”
The anniversary celebrations kick off today with the inaugural Futsal Friendship Cup at Kick Off @ Kovan, where 128 migrant workers and local residents play together on 16 integrated teams, alongside an exhibition match with local footballing legends, influencers, and friends of the community.
In the second half of 2026, HealthServe will continue its “Bridging Communities” initiative with an anniversary lunch for more than 300 migrant workers and volunteers. Additionally, the organisation will launch a series of Friendship Walks, designed to encourage regular and informal interaction between Singaporeans and the migrant worker community.
As HealthServe charts its next season of growth, it remains committed to filling critical gaps in migrant worker care, including attending to female migrant domestic workers, supporting their needs for chronic disease management and more.
