“Migrant workers are looked at as disposable labour, when they are all human beings like us and have their own families to care for”, says Sabrina, founder of Sabyarts – home to comic art and illustrations.
Sabrina is a young 23-year-old donor here at HealthServe, who has donated a total of $250 to support our organisation. Growing up, she rarely had any close interactions with our migrant friends. However, when she was much younger, she did encounter a migrant worker who had cat-called her. This left her with a poor impression of our migrant friends. Through various Youtube videos such as those in OurGrandfatherStory and CNA Inside, she soon realised that there are just some bad apples in every group of people and may not necessarily reflect the whole community.
She believes that the most important aspect of HealthServe and our services is the mental health department, and that we will be “a reliable source of aid for all migrant workers in Singapore.”
