HealthServe organises SG60 Tribute Luncheon for over 400 migrant workers at Marina Bay Sands with Guest-of-Honour President Tharman Shanmugaratnam gracing event

[Singapore, Aug 17, 2025] – HealthServe, an IPC registered charity founded in 2006 that advances the health and well-being of migrant workers in Singapore, today hosted a special SG60 Tribute Luncheon for over 400 migrant workers at Marina Bay Sands.

Guest-of-Honour President Tharman Shanmugaratnam graced the event, meeting and speaking with the invited workers and joining in the celebrations. Minister of State for Manpower, Mr Dinesh Vasu Dash, partners from Ministry of Manpower’s Assurance, Care & Engagement (ACE) Group, Singapore Business Federation, and MigrantWell Singapore were also present.

The dedication and labour of our migrant workers form the foundation of Singapore’s progress and development, where they have worked and continue to work tirelessly in building our infrastructure and homes, and supporting industries and businesses. For the luncheon, migrant workers mainly from the Construction, Marine Shipyard and Process (CMP) sectors — many from Bangladesh, India, Myanmar and China — were invited through dormitory operators, employers and corporate partners, while some are HealthServe’s beneficiaries.

Themed “Celebrating Our Migrant Workers: For Their Contributions In Building Singapore”, the event offered our migrant workers a memorable festive SG60 experience, where they enjoyed a banquet-style meal along with special performances by Damaru (Singapore’s School of Traditional Indian Drumming) and Migrants Band, a music team formed by a group of energetic young workers from Bangladesh in Singapore.

The Luncheon marked the debut of the HealthServe Awards, a partner-nominated initiative honouring outstanding individuals and organisations who have, in their capacity as peer support leaders, volunteers or corporate partners, shown care to migrant workers.

All attendees received specially designed SG60 commemorative medallions as meaningful mementoes of this milestone celebration. HealthServe Board Chairman Eugene Seow said: “As Singapore celebrates SG60, we want to honour our migrant brothers and friends who have journeyed with us and contributed much towards our nation building. Today, in recognition of their commitment and sacrifice, we want to say thank you.”

The event was also HealthServe’s main fundraising initiative this year where proceeds will go towards the operations of the charity’s services for migrant workers, including migrant domestic workers. Donors were invited to sponsor tables and host migrant workers and friends as guests at the tables.
