Will you go the extra mile to support the disadvantaged migrant worker community in Singapore?

#ManyHelpingHands fundraising campaign launched to keep migrant workers’ medical fees low amid COVID-19 pandemic

To address migrant workers’ growing set of multi-faceted health challenges amidst prolonged movement restrictions, HealthServe has launched its first virtual run titled #InTheirShoes to invite the public to join them in improving the community’s overall wellbeing.

On average, a migrant worker clocks at least 16km in a day’s work. Through #InTheirShoes, supporters can choose to run or walk 16km, 32km or 64km to raise funds to meet the increasing needs of the community. All funds raised will go the extra mile in supporting HealthServe’s primary care services for migrant workers, in the form of much-needed medical and mental health services as well as social assistance and programmes.

“2021 has been a very challenging year for the migrant workers in our midst, most of whom have not been able to experience much freedom and autonomy in self-care for over two years now,” shares Choy Peng Wah, HealthServe’s Fundraising & Engagement Chairman. “In the past year alone, HealthServe has engaged over 119,000 migrant workers, providing support across holistic health and social care, but there is still much to be done.”

HealthServe invites like-minded members of the public to embark on this meaningful cause and spread the word to their family and friends.

“Join us in going the extra mile for our nation builders as we put ourselves in their shoes for a day – It’s the least we can do.” Choy adds.

Here is how the public can help:

1. Choose between three challenges (run or walk 16km, 32km, and 64 km) and sign up via: https://web.42race.com/race-bundle/intheirshoes

2. Gather support from friends, family, and followers by sharing about your journey #InTheirShoes and encouraging them to donate via: #InTheirShoes – go the extra mile for the migrant worker community – Giving.sg

3. Complete the challenge at your own time between 12 – 27 March, and continue sharing about your journey on social media, using #InTheirShoes hashtag and tagging HealthServe!

Bonus: Participants of #InTheirShoes will receive a limited edition #InTheirShoes event t-shirt and an exclusive Thank You voucher gift pack at the end of the challenge.

#InTheirShoes is supported by Tote Board and a philanthropic foundation. Every dollar raised will be matched by 140%.
